ONE SOUL
By Adam B. Cozort, Bristol, VA

I hold one soul in the palms of my hands.
A soul not bound by sin’s dark bands.
A soul that is pure from spite and scorn.
A soul that is loving from evening ‘til morn.

I hold one soul in the palms of my hands.
One that my mind can’t truly comprehend.
I feel for that soul such responsibility.
For God has handed that soul over to me.

I hold one soul in the palms of my hands.
And with the coming of that soul come great demands.
Far beyond food and water and such.
This soul must be shown it is loved very much.

I hold one soul in the palms of my hands.
Before God, on that day, I know he will stand.
His most important training he must get from me.
For I am the one he will most often see.

I hold one soul in the palms of my hands.
That soul is so beautiful I can’t comprehend.
How something so beautiful has been given life,
And been put in the arms of me and my wife.
